The 10 Mathematical Commandments

1: Do thy homework.  Honour thy studies and thy teacher, Mathematics is not
a spectator sport.

2:  Know ye well, there is no common numerator.  Thou shall never assert
a/(b+c)=a/b+a/c .

3:  Do not covet a simple solution. Teach your young that x/ln(x)<>1/ln  .
Nor can you solve sin(kx)=1   by saying x=1/sin(k) .

4:  When in doubt, factor it out.  If ye cannot factor it, then ye cannot
cancel it, nor can ye apply the Zero Product Theorem.

5:  Lest ye forget, a student who indicates that (a+b)=a^2+b^2 shall be
struck down by a large trout in an open field.

6 Thou shall remember that (a+b)/c=(a/c)+(b/c) .

7: Changing the name of thy variables to change the result shall be in vain,
thou shall remember even (x+y)/z= (x/z)+(y/z).

8: Thou shall remember, if the domain of the a function f is the real
numbers, R, the graph of y = f(x) is not a blank pair of axes, adjust thy
viewing window.

9: Memorize as little as possible that will apply it to as much as possible.

10: Be resourceful. You cannot be taught what to do in every situation.  You
cannot remember every solution you have ever seen.  Stop trying to remember
everything, learn to think for yourself.
